The primary role of the Educational Technologist (ET) is instructional collaboration and staff development. Among the many various duties assigned, the following are the main areas of support:

  • Co-Planning and Co-Teaching: The key to successfully integrating technology into the curriculum is co-planning and co-teaching between the classroom teacher and the ET. The ET is also a qualified classroom teacher, and can assist with designing appropriate lessons using technology that matches the DoDEA adopted educational standards. Lessons may be designed for the entire class or for individuals. The classroom, the information center, and the computer lab are areas where the students explore technology.
  • In-Service Training and Support: There is an on-going need for technology training. The Educational Technologist offers a wide range of software support for the DoDEA adopted software packages. Additionally, specific topics are taught using the applications. The ET offers in-service training as needed and as requested by the school administration, the staff, and as new equipment and software is implemented.
  • Internet Resources: The Educational Technologist can assist with harnessing the Internet as a useful and valuable classroom resource. The ET can help find/suggest web sites that correspond with the adopted DoDEA standards for the teaching of various academic areas. Additionally, the ET can assist with classroom webpages or resource disks making the use of the Internet valuable, worthwhile, and safe for the teacher and students.
